Mr. Know-It’s Pre-Readiness: Beginning Sounds targets beginning sounds. Through Phonemic Awareness listening activities, pictures, and letter/sound associations, children learn to identify beginning sounds. Using Velcro® picture cards engages children in active learning as they match cards to letters in Write-On Book: Sounds. Games and puzzles give many ways for children to reinforce beginning sound identification.
To promote oral language, children retell events in a story and put the pictures of a book in order (Flip the Fish). They also sequence three cards and put them on the Train of Thought. When children retell the story, they then have a beginning, middle, and end to structure their thoughts.
Beginning Sounds provides materials for tracing letters and becoming more proficient in writing. There are also more connections with print and reading as children read rebus sentences.
The book, Mr. Know-It, What Can You Do?, teaches children spatial concepts such as over, under, in, out. Children experience the concept by doing what Mr. Know-It does in the book.
